Pentukurssia jne. / Puppy Class etc.

(Spirit 11 weeks 5 days)

Kisarintamalla on ollut hiljaiseloa, mutta paljon on tapahtunut toisaalla – lähinnä pennun kanssa touhuillen. Spirit on aivan mahtava pentu! Ollaan muutamaan otteeseen vierailtu agilitykentälläkin ja neiti vallan sekoaa siellä. Juoksee perässäni toisinaan haukkuen ja hieman muristenkin. Katselee tarkkaan suorittavia koiria ja sekoaa, kun teen Heron kanssa agilitya. Huutaa ja tempoo hihnan päässä hullun lailla :P Pidän tätä toistaiseksi vain hyvänä asiana. Antaa syttyä vaan! Spirit on muutenkin paljon äänekkäämpää sorttia, mitä Hero, joka harvoin edes haukahtaa. Hyvin kiihkeä ja itsevarma pentu. Tietää, mitä haluaa ja tekee kaikkensa sen eteen. Rohkeutta ei myöskään puutu!

Tähän mennessä ollaan tehty istumista, maahanmenoa ja odottamista. Nämä menevät jo ilman käsiapuja. Joskin odottaminen vaatii vielä matkan kasvattamista jne. Viime viikolla aloitin sivulletulon harjoittelemisen. Eilen olimme ensimmäistä kertaa pentukurssilla Koirakondiksessa. Hyvin meni, vaikka oli ohjelmaa ja haukuntaa ympärillä! Keskittyi hienosti koko tunnin ja oli koko ajan valmis tekemään kanssani. Spiritin pentutunnin loputtua kävin vielä Heron kanssa liitelemässä. Meni tosi hyvin, vaikka tahtoi taas varastella lähdössä.

Yleisesti Spirit – the aurajuusto – on super energinen ja erittäin lupaava harrastuskoiran alku! Mitä nyt välillä hieman hermojakin raastava ;P Hän osaa olla oikein hienosti kotona jo yksinkin (4-5 tuntia kerrallaan), eikä tee pahojaan. Mutta kun olemme kotona, alkaa pahanteko. Neiti on välillä oikea riiviö ja kova hakemaan huomiota – hyvässä tai pahassa.

Olen huomannut, että ”Spiidi” on hyvin tietoinen kropastaan ja omaa hyvän tasapainon jo nyt! Ei ollenkaan hoipertele pentumaisesti vaan osaa käyttää kroppaansa erinomaisesti. Kaikenlaiset pinnat ja maastot menevät tuosta vaan. Erilaisissa portaikoissakaan ei ole koskaan ollut ongelmaa – menee suorilta käsin, eli hahmottaa myös syvyydet. Herollahan oli pentuna portaikoissa haasteita. Tietenkään en anna Spiritin kiivetä portaita kovinkaan usein, koska on vasta pieni. Ja tämä neiti kyllä osoittaa mielipiteensä siitäkin :D Haluaisi tehdä kaiken itse ja mieluiten täysillä.

Luoksetulo on edelleen liikkeistä vaativin. Tämäkin menee paremmin silloin, kun Hero ei ole paikalla, vaikka Hero on toiminut erittäin hyvänä esimerkkinä. Pasi kävi nimittäin viime viikolla Heron kanssa juoksemassa ja sain siten kahdenkeskistä aikaa pennun kanssa. Seurasi minua paljon tiiviimmin ja tuli heti, kun huusin. Johtuu varmasti siitä yksinkertaisesta syystä, ettei ollut vanhemman koiran tukea läsnä. Lisää lelupalkkaa luoksetulosta ja turhia kutsuja. Nyt välttelee toisinaan syliin/hihnaan joutumista. Lelusta tulee kyllä heti.

Spirit täytti eilen 12 viikkoa. Tänään menemme ensimmäiselle rokotukselle.

(Spirit almost 12 weeks)

We have had a bit quiet what comes to competing but a lot has happened elsewhere – mainly with the puppy. Spirit is absolutely incredible puppy even though very challenging sometimes! I know she will be absolutely perfect when I get her 100% focused on me! We have visited agility hall already a few times and she goes absolutely crazy there. She runs after me (while growling and barking), looks at performing dogs very intensively and goes totally nuts when I do agility with Hero. She screams and pulls in her leash like crazy :P However I think it’s only a good thing for now - I let her fire up ;) She’s much louder than Hero (who hardly never even barks) in general as well. She is very passionate and self-confident. She knows what she wants and does anything to get it! Spirit doesn’t lack any bravery either. She’s up to anything and is scared of nothing!

By far we have done sitting, lying down and waiting. These go without any help given by hands and she looks to my eyes when doing. Waiting needs to be practiced more and increase the distance. Last week I started to train coming to aside. Yesterday we attended Puppy Class for the first time. Spirit did very well and focused on doing! I was actually surprised how well she did as there was a lot of disturbance. After the puppy class I did some agility with Hero. Everything went very well even though he tried to steel in the start - like usual these days... ;)

In general Spirit – the blue cheese – is super energetic and very promising sport dog! Well… sometimes a little irritating as well ;P She’s totally fine staying home alone (max. 4-5 hours at a time) but when we come home she starts to destroy. Sometimes she’s a little monster and tries to get our attention – in good or in bad. Like puppies do.

I have noticed she has a good awareness of her body already! She’s not a clumsy puppy but she can use her body very well. Any surfaces and grounds go just like that! Also with different kinds of stairs she has no problem and wants to climb those directly. She perceives depths very well! I remember Hero had some challenges with different kinds of stairs when he was little, especially with slippery ones. Of course Spirit is not allowed to do climbing that much as she’s so little, and that Ms. Independence doesn’t like at all :D She would want to do everything by herself and most preferably with full speed.

Coming to me is still the most challenging move. For some reason this goes better when Hero’s not around – even though Hero has shown her a very good example. Last week Pasi went running with Hero so I had some “quality time” with Spirit. Then she followed me even more intensively and came to me every time I called her. I think it was because there was no older dog’s support near her. So more useless calls and more rewarding with a toy. Usually she only avoids the leash or ending up in my lap. With a toy comes well.

Spirit turned 12 weeks yesterday. Today we’re going to the vet for vaccination.
